Vail Christian High School is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of one of its distinguished alumni, Tom Engleby (class of 2018). Tom graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy on June 1, 2023, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and a minor in French. Tom's journey from Vail Christian to the Air Force Academy has been nothing short of remarkable, and his accomplishments during his time at the academy are a testament to his dedication and excellence.

During his tenure at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Tom Engleby not only excelled academically but also made a significant impact on the athletic front. He garnered well-deserved recognition from the athletic department, earning several physical fitness awards that underscore his commitment to physical excellence and overall fitness. His determination and work ethic on the field reflect the values instilled in him during his formative years at Vail Christian High School. In an interview with Tom, he credited VCHS football Coach Tim Pierson for playing a significant role in his development both as an athlete and as a leader, transforming his experience at the academy. Tom also acknowledged Vail Christian High School's Camille Cooper as an extraordinary English teacher and the difference she made in his life. He stated that Mrs. Cooper prepared him well, placing him miles above his peers at the academy in both English and writing.

Moreover, Tom played a role as a football recruiter during his time at the academy, showcasing his leadership skills and dedication to the sport. His efforts as a recruiter led to an unforgettable White House visit in May 2023. During this extraordinary occasion, the Air Force Academy football team was honored with the prestigious Commander and Chief Trophy, presented by President Joe Biden. The trophy is awarded to the team that defeats both the Army and Navy in a single season, a feat achieved through relentless dedication and teamwork.

Tom's accomplishments serve as an inspiration to current and future students at Vail Christian High School, illustrating the incredible possibilities that lie ahead with dedication, perseverance, and a passion for serving others. His advice to current and future students is to have lofty goals and high expectations for themselves. Tom advised, "Pursue those goals as hard as you can and don't give up." Through his ambition and perseverance, Tom is a true testament to his own advice.

Looking toward the future as a fighter jet pilot, Tom will be working for a year in the registrar’s office at the Airforce Academy while he waits for his rotation through pilot training in Columbus, Mississippi, in 2024. As Tom embarks on the next chapter of his journey, armed with a degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy and the experiences that have shaped him, the Vail Christian High School community congratulates him once again and wishes him continued success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
